st130 corona wagon 3sge conversion

I have acquired a st130 Corona wagon rwd '83 with a 3t in it, sohc 1.8

I have searched the forums but have come up with almost nothing relating to what I want to do

I have a few options to do it up:

1) 3tgte
price $700 with w50 gearbox
bolt in turbo but low horsepower (160)
8 valve dohc efi chain cam belt
These engines ive been told max out at 300hp from mods

2) 3sge
price $1500+ for a gen IV without gearbox
not sure how it'l fit but am going to mate with its natural 6 spd from an altezza.
16 valve dohc efi NA 210hp
lots of room for improvement

3) altezza running gear
not keen on poor handling leaf springs and outdated drums in the rear end as i drive my cars pretty hard
how hard would it be to put all this stuff in the wagon?

Is this really all worth it or am i aiming too high
not really rich so cant afford $8000 transplant

Any ideas would be nice
looking for around 300hp (to beat mates crapper gt legacy)

I say spend the money on buying a better car to start with, why go to all of the effort of converting from leaf springs to IRS etc, when you could just buy something that in standard form will be better than your modified wagon, and then work on improving it from there......

you can make old cars go fairly well, but it takes a lot of time and money. And more modern cars will more than likely still cream you....

From my research and experience with putting a gen3 3sge into my rwd AA63 Carina.
I recommend that you buy a Altezza 3sge and gearbox.
I have seen several on trademe that went for about $2,000 with loom and exhaust. Already setup to run rwd. Minimum shagging around. No need to cut firewall. No need to make rwd exhaust manifold. Minimum fuss for cooling hoses etc.
