W57 dog box conversion?

Postby matt dunn » Thu Aug 30, 2007 12:54 am

Has anyone heard of a dog-engagemnet conversion being done on a W55-W57 series gearboxes?

Seems quite common on other cars, particularly evo's and wrx's for rallying i presume, but was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a W series box being done?

Yes, pretty sure you can buy kits out of OZ. I have the WWW site at work, I'll post it up soon.

Straight cut gears can be done for almost anything.

We had two W boxes done with straight cut gear years ago when we had the RWD Ae101.

Dog boxes are a bit different again.

I think Pfitzner Performance Gearbox do a straight cut gearset with dog engagement for the W series box, I've been thinking of getting one myself but there are so many options with other boxes available, I haven't come to any solid decision yet.
