caldina gt-t transmission or clutch related problem

Postby embai883 » Sat Sep 15, 2007 9:46 pm

hi guys,

my caldina gtt had recently developed a weird problem.

During neutral after letting go of the clutch, there is sort of metal grinding sound from the transmission. Something wrong with the clutch of transmission????

i can still drive fine and shift finely. During driving, everything was fine When i first got the car, i do found the gearbox a little hard to downshift, what could be the problem?

clutch gone or transmission gone?

before i go to the dealer, i supposed it is better to check with toyspeed first.

Thanks

It could be the thrust bearing - but impossible to say under the circumstances !
If it is the thrust bearing its probably the cheapest thing that can go wrong - apart from the fact the gearbox has to come out to change it.

Take it to a reputable trans specialist for an expert opinion.

I had a similar problem, cant remember exactly... got the car alright, but later on had trouble with the gear changing, changing down was rough. In the end I got Midas to do a gearbox oil change, had to let it wear in and I think that has done the trick for me.
