Fuel Injector questions

Postby thegreatestben » Wed Sep 19, 2007 11:39 am

My chaser has decided it doesn't like boost for some odd reason, I got the feeling the fuel wasn't being delivered correctly as it goes fine until the turbos start doing there thing.

I bought a AFR gauge kit from jaycar, which I'm not sure if its telling me the right thing or not, but its rich at idle, and then all g reving with light accelerator, but when I foot flat or touch boost, it jumps to mega lean.

Does this sound like injectors not behaving?
Also I took them out and tested flow of petrol up to the rail and yep, getting plenty. Noticed there was some wierd sticky clear build up on the ends of one or two injectors. Read something about fuel varnish from articles i found on google, is that what the sticky stuff is?

Can anyone recommend cleaning tips. how much to have them cleaned and flow tested?

I've never had any experiences with this sort of crap so advice me.

check fuel pump voltage? unlikely that the injectors have packed up unless you have started using that ethanol blend fuel. (apparently that stuff acts like rust stripper inside your fuel tank)

There doesnt seem to be a filter on the fuel line anywhere though.
I checked the fuel pump voltage, healthy at 12.01v.

You would probably be best to get a wideband onto your car before jumping to conclusions- whos to say the af meter youre running is operating correctly

Have a few things I'm gonna try tomorrow.

If anyone in welly thinks they could help i'd be most appreciative.
