Ae85 rear shock q's

Postby Steelo » Sat Sep 29, 2007 3:41 pm

Hey,

Now, I'm looking for some short rear shocks for my AE85 project. I have found some info on garage dori and some other sources. I decided i would go for the Pug 505 shocks (KYB)

Peugeot 505
Extended length: 420mm
Extended minus Body: 270mm
KYB Twin Tube (Oil) Rating (344004): 1900/600

I got my dad (works at Toyota) to order me some in, the parts fellow said that the eye on the bottom of the original shocks are 16mm and the eye on the Peugeot ones are 2-3mm smaller.

Is this true? is anyone using these shocks in their car?

I'm no suspension expert but what stopping you putting a few washers either side to space it correctly?

I'd wait and see if someone can say that it safe to do that before doing anything.

i think hes referring to the internal diamater of the eye at the bottom of the shock which slots onto the axle - ie the peugot one being smaller means it probably wont fit the car without some machining or something.

Yeah thats the idea I got from my Dad explaining it to me, I can't be sure tho since I haven't laid eyes on the shocks in question

Yeah I was initially going to go with hilux ones, but heard they are quite stiff and that the Pug ones are a bit softer........may end up with the hilux ones after all ay.
