cAS with aftermarket cams

Postby try_hard » Wed Oct 03, 2007 5:30 pm

i have just brought a bigport head now were going to get cams but were thinking about it and reasised the big port uses a CAS. now dose anyone know it hks or other companys that do aftermarket cams have the teeth on the cam shaft to continue using the CAS or am i going to have to use a distributor?
any insight into this would be a help.

im pretty sure the shafts on dizzys ans cas's are the same, e.g you can use bluetop cams in your 4agze, 4agzes are CAS and bluetops are dizzy, so obviously there compatible.

i think hes asking if aftermarket cams have the gear to drive the CAS / distributor shaft.

i cant say for sure but if they are made for 4AGE's then i would imagine so.

people certainly run aftermarket cams in 4AGE's all over the place...

Also with the amount of people that run bluetop cams (no cas) in a gze (cas) and it works fine, so cas and reg dizzy would have same teeth/profile it'll all be sweet.

I think you'll find every camshaft made for a 4AGE will have the drive.

Only exception could possibly be a genuine Formula Pacific one as they could have possibly run a sensor off the crank, but I doubt they would have bothered.

Youll find that exhaust cams have teeth for the dizzy/cas and the intake cams wont.
Should be the same for all 16v 4age/ze cams, standard and aftermarket.
Although there is nothing stopping you from using a exhaust cam for the intake.
