2zz-ge TRD exhaust manifold vs factory manifold

Postby ShiXtr » Sat Oct 27, 2007 1:23 am

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2zz-ge TRD tuned exhaust manifold and the factory 2zz-ge manifold?

The reason why im asking is because a toyota mechanic has advised me that there will not be much of a difference between the 2 as the factory 2zz-ge already has a pretty good exhaust manifold from factory and the diameter and tubing patterns are quite similiar between the 2.

What im thinking is...if they are similiar, then why did TRD develop a so called "tuned" exhaust manifold for the 2zz-ge  ?

Would really like to have some light shed on this or if anyone has actually installed a TRD exhaust manifold on a 2zz-ge and found a difference from it.

Thanks heaps!!

iv sold 2-3 of those and no one has complained yet!

i have no dyno figures to compare, but i can tell you TRD are not in the habit of selling stuff that doesnt work.

for best results i think if you do the whole exhaust and maybe some intake mods, say maybe the TRD CAI you will notice a definite gain.
a customer of mine in nelson did those and he was most impressed.

however, as your car is a road daily driver, maybe some suspension mods would help you get more fun from it?

We supplied 'many' of these to TOCA members in Australia. One or two them posted dyno sheets and, whilst I can't recall the exact numbers, the improvements were significant. (I'm thinking 12 ~ 15hp and a very noticeable improvement in driveability)
As Warwick has said, coupled with a CAI it's an impressive modification with pulling the motor apart.

They are almost identical sure they will flow a bit more, same can be done with the factory one if you understand how to flow them correctly.

A lot cheaper too!
