2zz-ge Sluggish cold start

Postby ShiXtr » Thu Nov 01, 2007 4:01 pm

Hi guys,

Are any of you experiencing sluggish cold starts for your 2zz-ge, etc?

During cold starts, i.e morning starts, engine cool down for 4-5 hrs, my car is really sluggish and takes about a min or so to get it going normally. It doesnt do it every single time but at least 80% of the time

My corolla has done about 150,000km now and was just wondering if this is normal or something needs to be cleaned out?

Thanks heaps

Get the battery tested with a decent load tester.

mine did that when my battery was short of fluid... added fluid and it was better, but battery died about 6 months later.

lack of fluid probably didn't help its longevity.

Mine was sluggish to turn over, but once running for a minute or so was fine, I'm in dunners, and car is parked outside in the ice/snow etc, so fairly harsh on batteries.

Get a decent high cranking power battery and it is no longer an issue.
