Fuel economy for stock standard 99 st215w

Have recently perchased this vehicle and cant understand why it drinks so much fuel. Im running BP 98 fuel and can only get about 400kms to 60ltrs of fuel I ran a N/A 93 subaru legacy VZ Type R and I could get bout 450-500kms long distance an 200-250kms around town. Now this new car even if im being gentle with it it still drinks like hell. I have changed the fuel filter and spark plugs (NGK Platinums) andhave run a fuel system flush for carbon and sludge deposits put motor up in and new air filter (stock standard) any suggestions would be great.

what type of driving?

that would probly be typical for city driving, they get up over 500km on the open road.

Ive only had the car for about 4 weeks now 1 & 1/2 weeks was in shop getting alarm and tow bar fitted + the typical manifold warp problem
but at the mo ive been taking it gental

Sounds right for citty driving, mine will do 11km/l on the open road, while doing between 5-9km/l in town

Ive been watchin the fuel meter in the dash and i average about 9.7 - 12.5 l/km on the open road and 5.6 - 7.2 l/km around town but is this guage accurate??

About as accurate as microsofts dailup connection speeds window..

Its normal just remember a turbo is always gonna drink more fuel , you compare a gtt to an evo and it is pretty economical

i usually squeeze about 420km out of mine city driving, 99gtt did you end up getting that front bumper made?
