REbuilding 5sfe bottom end for big power

Postby ALLTREC_TURB » Sun Dec 02, 2007 3:20 pm

Now ive decided not to sell, Im going to start building up a new motor for my gt4, Using a 5sfe bottom end and 3s head.

First off is it worth it?

My goal is about 320-360 Hp at the wheels, obviously its going to need forged pistons and rods (unless prehaps if there may be any toyota stuff that would be strong enough, but i doubt it), but what about the crank? are they strong enough to support this kind of power. All bearings etc will be replaced. Is the factory oil pump on them sufficent or would it be best to replace with a 3sgte one? And finally which generation head would be the best as a base

Thats about it for tyhe time being

Cheers guys

From what I've read on American forums, the 5SFE crank is plenty tough enough. Just use TRD/ ACL race bearings for the bottom end as well as ARP bolts /studs and you'll have a solid base.
