Best for what? Ease of transplant? Power output?

You haven't really said how much money you want to throw at it, if you want something thats all top end and nothing else or what.

5k with planed head would be better if you could
3k has smaller valves
and get a better cam
and twin carbs or make up an efi system for it (seen one somwhere not long ago)

or as everyone been saying git a 4a or somthing and save alot of screwing round

ask on club-k some people get pritty good power out of the little 8valve pushrod motor... oh and the blody things can handle anything you do to them! (including running dry and living close to valve bounce  )
Current:KE30 my baby,ke35 (now going to get the 2t treatment),isuzu spacecab ute
past: AE82 FXGT
(sorry about my sheit spelling)

no one mentioned that combo

but hey give it a whirl and let us know

79rolla, why do you recommend twin carbs over single carb? (I assume you are talking factory carbs)

I've heard single carb is just as good and saves a lot of f**king around at tune time

Twins aren't bad to tune at all. And seem to go that much better, and sidedrafts better again (assuming engine work done to suit)

Sure about that? ;)

Any head bar a 2K one will be sweet, just plane it down to suit. Decide whether you want something thats gonna be quite torquey, or want something that'll rev to hell but but a bit of a pig around town. If you get a 5K, you'll want to ditch the (probably) hydraulic lifters for solid versions.
Don't use the stock 3K-B twin carbs, they're not that great. If you want to make decent power, side drafts are the way.
