It looks like a A series backing plate, and all the holes and starter motor look like they are in the right place.

Looks exactly like my backing plate for my 4age, but i have a rounded bottom bit as its in a AE86

Which part are you concerned about, if it will fit the gearbox or if it will fit the block? By the looks of it i can say it will definately fit the block. But im very unsure if it will fit the Gbox.

I dunno, i know nothing about fwd 4age gearbox's therefore i know nothing about the backing plate.

The block shape looks perfect for a 4age, and the starter motor position seems right for a 16v.

Just trying to help the best i can

my fwd 4age had a round bottom, but i guess 4agze could be different, or perhaps auto?

you can see the starter mounts are not even spaced from the starter spiggot ?, so it is not 4age 16V,

Only ones that had one starter mount longer than the other were the
4AGZE and the 20V's,

so it's one of those two.

usually the round bottom is a sepaerate piece which is bolted to the gbox, looks like a typical 4agze backing plate to me
