Fuse gone in my fxgt now its stuck

Postby xsspeed » Thu Jan 24, 2008 12:48 pm

hey guys blew the 80A fuse in the positive battery terminal fuse box in my ae82 fxgt. (made a dumb mistake dont ask  but i bet you can guess)

anywho problem is i cant get the fuse out of the terminal box, seems to be stuck on real good like. any ideas how to get it out so i can replace it?

the middle one comes off sweet but the too outer ones are stuck.

btw taking the clear plastic cap off and pulling with plyers does not work, plastic is brittle!!!

it is bolted in from underneath of the fusebox.
you can pull only smaller fuses of same type larger ones are bolted in because of importance and current requirements.

yep are a prick to get out , i went to pick a part and got a spare fuse box for like 5$, then practised breaking that one to see how to get into it

they have 2 legs that bolt into the base of the fuse box.you usually need to separate the top and bottom of the fuse box to access the bolts, and sometimes its in a separate compartment again after that.

That'll explain that time when I tried to pull them out...............

yeah just disconnect the positive terminal and flick the plastic surround off the fusible link holder. Not too bad to get at,

 i also found out the hard way with this one, think i actually ended up ripping the entire fuse part out leaving the two legs still bolted down and that was how i found out about the bolts.

Just dont put a piece of welding wire in there and insulate it with race tape.

last person I knew that did that ended up looking out the window at the fire dept putting there car out.
