Power Difference?

Postby Maxwedge » Thu Feb 07, 2008 7:34 am

Anyone out there run a smallport block assembly with a bigport head with trd head gasket? Was there any sort of noticable power difference? Compared to a standard bigport.

Sorry, I am wanting to know whether there was a noticable power difference compared to the standard bigport. I am looking into whether its worth gaining compression and possibly power by changing the block to a smallport plus TRD Gasket, on my bluetop bigport.

best bang for buck would be getting the bluetop cams reground at Kelfords... cost me around $500 3 years ago.
I'm essentially running a smallport block, but the blocks are really the same... the changes are in the head.

Bigport blocks had lighter rotating assemblies (rev better), not as good compression but it makes up for it in rpm. Im just about to assemble a bigport bottom end with a smallport head, and supra throttle body, will tell you how that goes when i get around to putting the engine in my car haha.
