Caldina 12V / 120V Lighter Socket

Postby BZG Wagon » Sun Feb 10, 2008 9:53 pm

I'm about to head off camping & I was just trying out the 12v lighter socket in the boot of my Caldina GTT (to run the air-bed pump, phone charger, camera charger, laptop charger etc).

However it does not appear to work. Surprisingly though; both the cigarette lighter & 100v Japanese socket behind the centre console both work. Does the boot socket run off a separate fuse? Has anyone else had trouble with this before?

Can anyone tell me how it works (does it run though the inverter or is it likely to be on the same circuit as the normal/drivers lighter socket)???

Isn't there a switch up front to turn them on/off?

Yep, the 12v/100v switch turns both the inverter and the rear 12v socket on.

Hmmm... That still doesn't work for me...

The inverter behind the centre console works, but not the rear/boot 12v lighter socket.

Stupid toyota cig lighter have like a fusible link built into the back of them.

Almost impossible to see, only a few mm in size, but does stop the cig lighter from working.

You can solder across it, but you have to be carefull as you usually melt the plastic insulator on the first few tries.
