Postby Tru3no20v » Sun Feb 10, 2008 11:20 pm

dunno if id even do it (good idea tho haha) but has anybody round here done a 4agze coversion into a ae82 fxgt.

kinda gatherd id need an engine, ecu and loom... posible gear box to although im not sure what a stock fxgt box can take. and yeh front mount.
oh and fuel pump??
a mates got a full aw11 sc i could buy as a doner car. :P

wouldnt think breaks would need to be done, and would the gze bolt up to the fxgt mounts

i used to own an AE82 with a 4AGZE in it. was lots of fun, link and 12 psi! kinda wish i still had it actually, was a real sleeper.

from what i can remember the bottom rear mount had been moved slightly to fit the GZE, but i think the others were standard 82 mounts. although, whoever did the conversion used the original NA mounts and i if i recall correctly the GZE has beefier engine mounts - the car kept tearing mounts anyway. bit more twist than a bluetop i guess ;)

late model gze's are better, and its probably worth swapping the gearbox too - if for no other reason than that monstrous 3rd gear ;)

if you use the supercharged box then you will have to make a whole new rear engine mount , you will have to get the shafts shortened . if you use the mr2 box u will need to change the linkages and starter around to the opposite side , the fuel pump will need to be changed and u will have to do a bit of wiring as it wont be just plug and play 8)
But if you have a donor car it makes it alot easier , although the compression on the supercharged aw's are slightly different to the levins .

the engine side mount was a standard fxgt mount

dont think you have to modify them as long as you use the gze hubs

mr2 hubs shoud be the same as ae82 , you dont want to lose the adjustable camber hubs from the ae82 , the levin and trueno ones are different , the levin and trueno shafts will have to be shortened , not 100 % sure on the mr2 ones , but before you use them , if you do , jack up your car with the mr2 shafts in it and take measurements and measure it through its suspension arc , they may look like they fit , like the levin ones but once you have them in and loaded up going around a corner they will blow inner cvs 8)
