Smaller Alternator for Beams 3sge (altezza)

Postby nz_climber » Thu Feb 14, 2008 8:38 pm

Hi everyone, like the title says, I am after a smaller alternator for altezza 3sge. As the one on there is massive, and because its only going in a lotus replica I only need it to power the engine and lights - no stereo or fancy bits.

Doesn't matter if it don't bolt straight on, as I can get brackets made, and will be mounted where ever I get free space (could be either side at this stage)

cheers in advance

even though the factory one is massive, they are barely upto the task.

What sort of clearance issues do you have?

You could run a celica alternator+bracket, as this puts the alternator higher up on the exhaust side of the engine.

MR2 alternator + bracket wont fit under the intake manifold.

You can borrow mine to see how it fits up if you like.

Cheers Roman, but this is all happening in the south island, but thanks anyway, I not sure if there will be clearance issues and won't know until I get the engine chassis and steering all in, at the moment I more just wanting to reduce weight etc (if there was an easy option for replacement)

4age, or simalar would be ok.
but of the amount of effort it take to fit it wouldn't save u enought kg's to worry about, spend the money on something like engine.

Go for a Starlet alt, I think around EP90 model,
they are quite small,

other than that, there are forklift alt's available that are same style and brand as the toyota one's but just a lot smaller and dearer.
