Caldina Tiptronic Gear Changes

Postby bubz » Mon Feb 25, 2008 10:42 am

The car has been modified with aftermarket turbo,FMIC etc and runs 14 psi at low boost and 18 psi at high boost. What I have noticed is that under boost when gear changes are made (not releasing the foot from accelerator),you will loose a few hundred revs before it actually changes the gear and picks up the rev.

I thought in auto it shouldn't be like this as we don't release the accelerator. If I'am not boosting than it's all good, instant changes with no revs lost. What I am worried about is,if my gear box is giving up.What are the signs of gearbox failure?

What can I do to my transmission to keep up with my current mods and boost level apart from regular servicing?

Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks

If your revs are increasing or your gearbox is groaning inbetween shifts is bad.

Buying a manual box will improve your current mods.

It doesnt sound to bad, lurching, over reving etc will be bad.

Your gearbox could be electronically controlling the engine to lower the revs when on boost so it doesnt blow the gearbox between changes. I know nothing about tip tronic so this is only a 'guesstimation'

Another caldina owner maybe able to help you. But it doesnt sound like you should be concerned.
