arp headbolts, how do you get to them?

Postby bluemaumau » Thu Feb 28, 2008 4:48 pm

new question added

toyota recommends tightening(in sequence) to 22 ft lbs then another 90 degrees then another 90 degrees.

arp recommends that you use manufactuerers sequence but tighten to 60ft lbs instead. does that soundright?

they are talking about the sequence of the bolts,

DO NOT use any torque settings/90deg bs from toyota.

start at like 30 in the proper sequence, then go to like 45, then go over and go to 60.

A Koken 3/8" deep socket in the correct imperial size (7/16"?) does the job perfect and fits past the cams. May cost around $12-$15.

depends on the bolt... ARP recommends only the sequence from the manufacturer then apply their torque. while toyota recommends applying pre-load torque +90 +90. heres a good read about that: RV8
