7aGE facts please

Postby lucasthefallen » Thu Feb 28, 2008 7:58 pm

alright,

from what i understand the 7a has a larger capicity then the 4a due to the length of stroke?

smallport head > 7a block, do i use a 4a or 7a headgasket? and 4a or 7a cambelt?

is there anything else that needs to be modified to get it to fit?

will 20v silvertop rods fit the 7a crank and pistons?

will i need to use a 7a flywheel/clutch assy, or will a 4a fit?

and also, what exactly needs to be changed on the smallport head to fit silvertop quad t/b's?

just trying to work out a shopping list

thanks in advance

7afe crank and rods and small port pistons ( cant use 4age as extra capacity comes from stroke not bore) stock 7afe metal head gasket (0.6mm) as in the other thread nether 4a or 7a belt fit as both are too short from memory its a porsche 944 belt. need to ues 7a fly too as is 6 bolt not 8 like small port(blue top may fit??) not too sure on clutch as i sold my engine before i got that far. prob would have cot one custom made tho.

as for throttle bodys, a aftermarket comp as fueling is way way diffferent, a adaptor manifold which has small port flange on one side and 20v on the other try 86factory or maybe Nite B??

cheers

oh the 4age gudgeons need to be modified to fit the 7a rods too as the diameter is slightly smaller on 7A rods

Q/ smallport head > 7a block, do i use a 4a or 7a headgasket? and 4a or 7a cambelt?
A/ use the gasket that suits the head, so smallport or TRD gasket, and will need a special non toyota cambelt, one of the prosche models from memory

Q/is there anything else that needs to be modified to get it to fit?
A/ no

Q/will 20v silvertop rods fit the 7a crank and pistons?
A/ No. Only 7A rods fit the 7A crank.

Q/will i need to use a 7a flywheel/clutch assy, or will a 4a fit?
A/ 7A and 4AFE flywheels interchange, 4AGE one does not.

Q/ what exactly needs to be changed on the smallport head to fit silvertop quad t/b's?
A/ You will need and aftermarket adapter

theres alot more involved than an adapter plate if you want it to run though :P

matt does the 7A block have an oil drain inlet for the smallport head?

ok great! thanks for that, now a few more things...

the tensioner bearing, do i use the 7a one?

and also the crank pulley ( not the gear ), also the 7a one i take it?

and also, on the out side of the 7a block, are all the bolt holes etc the same as i 4a? so i can use my current altenator/brakcet and p/s pump?

thanks

yeah cuz the 7afe drives at the wrong speed (has a different number of teeth), basically the 7afe is a stroked single cam 4age, (and yes i no its actually twin cam, but basically single cam) so the 7a carnk gear ionly drives one cam gear, so when putting a extra cam gear up there it all gets $&#$% up.
