There is no safe boost you car could blow up with 5 psi boost . chuck it on a dyno and play with the boost level . I did the occassional 20 psi run down the 1/4 mile when i had my factory turbo on . But i wouldnt turn up the boost while you have the factory intercooler on, especially driving round town works more like a heat sink.

Computer has boost cut set at 18psi, but caldina gtt's have been known to melt at this level, probably due to the higher compression and using lower than optimum octane fuel. I would say go as far as 15 psi to stay on the safe side.

What wrong with standard boost?
Isn't that already up between the 12-14psi mark anyway?

factory boost in mine with a free'd up exhaust and mine will pull from nothing right up to 6grand. sits about 14 - 15psi under load.

If mine was running 8psi factory in a gtt id b trying to find out what the problem is
I had vtax :(

exactly, unless its got a fully std exhuast with a semi clogged cat convertor i'd be trying to work out where the boost has gone to

14-15?? Mine has a small spike and will hit 12 but then settles on 10psi. Maybe these differences are gauge inaccuracies?

i would be putting it down to variations in exhaust size+design etc. a large downpipes and 3" exhaust seems to get about 14psi out of them.

also the age of the actuator seems to affect it. have seen a GTT go from ~12-14psi all the time , to spikes over 20psi when the diaphragm started leaking, to a steady 9-10psi after replacement of the actuator.

IME Most often the cause of boost spikes and fluctuations is the boost controller. My GTT has a HKS EVC-IV controller and it's rock steady on any setting up to about 17lbs. Higher than that and it will taper off above 5500rpm as the turbo can't supply enough air.

I put a gtt caldina engine in my car, put on a hks wastegate and a G2 link plus, when i got it tuned the boost would hit 15.3 psi but as the power increased the boost would drop down to 13.4psi, and be carefull of how much u boost cause these engines tend to throw the rod out of the block, it happened to my engine and i know of 6 other engines thats done it aswell

My one pulls to 7,000 and sits on 13.5psi steady. Factory turbo, catback exhaust, k&n pannel filter

Must be one of those cars that just goes well :p
