gt apex temp gauge

Postby AE82 FXGT » Sun Mar 09, 2008 4:16 pm

Hey guys,

I just went and looked at buying a gt apex levin so I can rip into my GTZ.
It all seemed good, 140xxx, abs, SS, 5.1 surround?, all factory and not raped.

Only thing is, the temp sits at about 1/4 on the gauge all the time.
It doesn't seem to be running cold as the heater is hot.
Mine sits about half when warm, and so does every other 4age I've driven.
I asked if the it always stays there and the guy said yes.
I took it for a good drive on the open road for about 10min and it didn't get colder indicating faulty thermostat.

So what could the cause be?
My initial thoughts are:

-wrong thermostat
-wrong temp sensor
-it supposed to, and I'm wrong?
What does everyone else's temp gauge sit at?

Na, doesn't have the symptoms for thermostat stuck open.

As when I went from 50k zone to driving on the open road the temp didn't drop.

Yeah maybe, I'll replace the temp sensor, then the thermostat.
Anyone know where the sensor is located?
I don't have the car yet and you could save me some time

Do they have separate sensors for ecu and gauge?
