feul pumps regs etc?

Postby NOLAW » Wed Mar 19, 2008 4:58 pm

right im now down to the fuel side of the conversion, im planing to run a bosch 044 fuel pump with turbosmart 800hp reg and custom surge tank, would this be ideal for my 4agte, am running 550cc injectors incase anyone needs to know.

also if anyone has any better recommendations or something else i may need feel free to let me know :D

also i dont want any recomendations judged on price as that dosent matter at this stage, just after information of good products that would be suited for my motor and would perform well

cheers guys :)

hey, i'm using standard gze pump for pickup to the surge tank with a bosch 044 with the holder on it (extra $60)

make sure you get good inline fuel filters, mine and bazdas on the suck side of the pump are from pioneer autoparts and cost $150ish, got the other little screen filter from overseas

i'm running -8 braided teflon (no fuel smell) for main feed on my car which is probably overkill for what i will need, but hey, what the hell. and -6 on the return utilising the standard main fuel feed line for the return.

walborough will do to an extent when drag racing, i couldn't really run under 1/2 tank on the drag strip with just intake pump, (reason one for surge tank)

and i wanna do track work as well so lots of cornering (reason two for surge tank) you dont wanna have no gas round a hard fast corner.

could even get a walborough external pump, or a bosch 040.

as long as you have enough gas in the tank you will be fine. if it's too low, you'll be hearing and feeling it miss and surge down the track, which = bad.

i ran just a walbrough in my red car, went fine, jsut had to have more gas = more weight = slower.

my car uses ALOT of gas when runnign 25psi though as well, the baffle in the tank is not that great, doesn't really hold that much gas in it, dont know what the tanks in your mates cars are like. they supported 330kw in bazz's car. but yeah, can't run them that low on gas, i can imagine it would be worse for circuit in a reasonably high powered car.

I dont use a surge tank in my car, i did notice in 3rd WOT on 19psi towards the end of my runs my car would "hold off" and stop pulling with 1/4 tank av gas. I put that down to fuel surge cos it def wasnt a missfire, and boost was solid. I think if i ran a surge tank it would of fixed that problem.

you can just use a stock reg for 200kw. I fitted an adjustable one to mine and the guy who tuned it didnt even alter pressure, he tuned it on 35psi base pressure, thats with 13bt 550s aswell.

Worked fine, but yes injectors were near there limit.

never used one of those regs, but as long as it can hold a good stable pressures it should be fine.

it will be fine with that bosch pump, as bosch pump itself is rated for around 6-700hp aren't they?
