help with new toyota diff codes? ao2a ...etc?

just wondering about the new toyota diff codes?

is the 1st letter 'a' (eg a02b) the new code for 'G' (eg G305) series 8inch??
and is 'b' the n ew 'F' series 7.5 inch?

and the last letter a open, b torsen lsd?

and finally has any one fitted a new ao2b hilux code diff head to the odl stlye of G series housings? no difference in dimensions and axle splines etc???

i think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head.
pretty sure putting a 3.5:1 new shape hilux diff head into a older G type housing has been done by someone but cant recall who

theres much confusion over this new codeing on the web, the ratio codes seem to differ between destination countries ie btween aussie japan and the US....

anyone got a decent link to a jap version of this diff codeing?

from what ive figured.. each car has its own separate ratio codes.. so an a01b from a supra is different from an a01b from an altezza or hilux or whatever.. you need the code chart for that particular car to know what the code refers to.
one thing you got right.. last letter.. a = open, b = lsd
