positioning of LINK air temp sensor on 4age

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Sat Apr 05, 2008 2:03 pm

the manual says the best place is before the throttle body, but it can be fitted to somewhere with high airflow.

how have you guys found fitting it in the place of the factory bluetop sensor? is there enough air flow etc there, any problems having it there?

and also, with the Link G3, all the factory cold start lines/sensors can be removed right?

i drilled hole in my inlet mani next to where cold start injector is. then drilled little hole and tapped it, then put sensor in with a gasket to space it out enough that the o-ring did it's job, worked a treat, can see in pics in my project thread.

not sure what sensors you used,

but with the bosch ones there are different sensors for forced induction compared to NA,

and they mount completly different.

The na ones just screw in like an EFI water temp sensor,
the FI ones have a hole for the sensor and a thread beside them.

going on a turboed setup, i've got the correct bosch sensor here - but i'm wondering about the actual positioning of it, and where is best so as to get decent airflow for an accurate reading.

cheers

yeah then it will need to be in the actual air flow.

mine is in the pipe from the intercooler to the plenium.
Actually, it's in the outlet of the actual intercooler

with my linkplus i never bothered with the iat sensor... or a tps for that matter. just more wires to hook up. i did read somewhere that the early links were too slow to accurately compensate for changes in iat (especially in turbo applications)

I used a ZE one in my 20v turbo and just mounted it in the intercooler pipe just before the plenum. Don't think it did that mucht tho. It shouldn't change temp quikly cause that won't give you a consistint A/F ratio. Just puts a bit more fuel in if the temp go's down to compensate for the denser air.
Great for those cool winter nights boosting hard.

did you get the manual for the link?? you can download it off the website.
