FXGT Exhaust - How big is too big?

Postby ADIKTD » Sun Apr 06, 2008 2:05 am

I was just wondering what people recommend an owner of a 20v 4AGE Silvertop should buy in the ways of an exhaust - piping? 2"? 2 1/4"? 2 1/2"?
How big is too big?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Oh I was also thinking of ditching the silvertop extractors and getting some after market ones or blacktop ones - That do ppl recommend?

Cheers

personally i would go for 2.25" with a decent rear muffler.
You will either need 1 or 2 resonators(depending on length), or another decent muffler half way along the exhaust as well.

I wouldnt bother replacing the stock headers unless you get some black top ones cheap.

any bigger than 2.25" is overkill, hell 2" is probably big enough.

for that price id buy it, but you will probably need to replace those resonators with a super turbo style muffler or similar.

is not suitable? cheers

Do not buy that....

I sold it to that guy. It was off my Sister's AE101 FXGT. It was way too loud on the car (even with the silencer in).

It's getting pretty old now too, so I'd say the cores of the resonators would be toast.

As for the extractors. Keep the primaries as is, then get the secondaries remade longer than stock (can't recall what length they recommend to make them). When you do it, do a nice mandrel bend over the crossmember, so you can get rid of the god awful squish section there as standard. That'll see you right.

I had a 2inch exhaust all the way through with a super turbo muffler on my supercharged fxgt and that perfect..

anything over 2 or 2 1/4 is overkill

i reckon 2 1/4" , i went from 2 1/2 to 2 1/4 on my blacktop and made a world of difference alot more responsive etc 2 " has a thinner wall on it , 2 1/4" has a thicker wall so is therefore less drony inside the car , i have one factory muffler in the middel , a coby a bit further back then a euro muffler at the back , its not quiet and its not loud, just right i reckon
