I'm stuck. Trying to remove manifold from a MR2 3SGTE.

I've got myself a bit stuck. I'm changing my gaskets. Exhaust manifold to head and turbo housing to exhaust manifold.

I've got the manifold unbolted and I figured before I can pull that off I was probably going to have to pull the turbo housing off.

But In order to pull the turbo housing off I figured that I would have to get under the car and pull off the cat. Is that right?

I have an exploded diagram of the engine from the BGB and that is what led me to the above conclusion.

So I've gone under the car and have unbolted the exhaust from the cat but I can't for the life of me pull it off. Does this mean I have to undo the exhaust mount at the back of the car and pull the whole exhaust off?

At the moment I'm stuck 'cos I'mnot sure what to do next.

Also my car isn't in the garage (there are already two project cars in there that my flatmate works on) so any help would be appreciated ASAP so that I can get as much done as I can. I would really like to have it back together before the end of the day.

Yep, there is a L shaped bracket going from the block to the bottom of the turbo, if you're lucky the bolts won't be rounded off like mine were
Once you get the downpipe and bracket off, you dont need to take off the manifold to get the turbo off.
Might find it easier to get the downpipe off with the oil filter removed too, its quite a tight squeeze.

Got it sorted today, once my flatmate got home he gave me a hand.
We got the whole lot out changed the gaskets and dropped it back in. Tomorrow I've just got to bolt everything else back up.

Partly me not actually knowing what the oil feed looked like despite the illustrations from the bgb and also my skinny little arms not being strong enough to undo the banjo clip (I think that's what quentin kept calling it).
