blacktop head on silvertop block

Postby groupagt4 » Tue Apr 08, 2008 7:25 pm

Sorry if this has been asked i did search.

Jus got myself a ae86 with a silvertop in it, got the normal mods like b/t t/b extracters, mega squirt ecu mitsi coil pack and so on,

What I need to know is what parts would i need for the conversion other than the head and is there anything tricky to it.

all i need to do is change the head over ill take it in to get dyno tuned

Any reason for the change? I don't thnk I'd bother for the small increase you'll gain.

You probably want to talk to the guys on garage dori, as they know alot about the mega squirts, wouldn't suprise me if the car came for there too.

i think so.

some ppl believe the b/t ITBs to be a bit big for a near stock 20v.

"would it be better to get the head ported and flow matched"

for the price of a head gasket, head bolts and a blacktop head, + slight performance gain; its cheaper to just change to blacktop head. Dont muck about porting and flow matching.. flow matching when done right cost a whole lot than the above.

the 15-20 hp gain would come from the increase compression if you use a TRD head gasket and retune the fuel and spark map on the megasquirt. I'd done research on this in depth before i decided to transplant my AE86.
