More 20 valve help. Idle speed

Postby ke25sr » Sun May 18, 2008 12:57 pm

It doesn't run rich now. great.

But the ignition timing was very low at hot idle it was as low as 6 degrees.

so we earthed out the diagnostic plug and tuned the dizzy.
i was told to give it 16 drgrees. no the hot idle is about 2500 rpm.

I have cleaned the throttles since and screwed in the bleed screw but there no hard in and still idles high.

What else controls the idle speed on the black top?

16 degrees base timing sounds excessive.... and how the heck did you do it? I had to grind out the mounts to get 10 degrees base!
The answer is Helmholtz!

Should be 10 degrees in diag mode, warmed up.

we did actually turn it down to 10 degrees when it was on the diagnostics.

But still idles high. (1200 RPM)

You 100% sure none of the hoses are going to the wrong place or leaking? And as above it should be on 10°BTDC with the jumper in the diagnostic plug.

Did that oxygen sensor do the trick for running rich?
