3S-GTE into an AE111 Levin???

Postby Tha_INS » Mon May 26, 2008 12:22 am

Hey guys I am wondering if this swap is possible. Currently have a 4A-FE in there I would go the normal route of chucking in a 4A-GE and turbo that but wouldn't it be cheaper/easier to put in an already boosted engine?

Has this swap ever been done in NZ?

I'm sure it's possible, but I think it's probably easier and less hassle to go the turbo 4A-GE route. I'm only guessing, but I think there would be quite a lot of fabrication needed to make it work.

sell AE1XX and buy ST205. You will not regret it, it will out handle an AE1XX with 3SGTE, cost less, and ST205 is far better looking and more solid car. And it will be faster even in stock form due to 4WD.

if you want to be different instead of going 3SGTE way, go 3SGE beams (red-top) way, it will be more drivable, more reliable, more economical, and will be a lot more fun on twisty roads.

Postby bs » Mon May 26, 2008 7:42 pm

Theres all different ideas on the net. Havent found out anything solid yet, but still searching. Would probly be best to just get it put it in and make the mounts from there.
There might be some info in the links below for you that ive found.

I disagree.

Around pukekohe I would put my money on the ae111 with 3sgte any day.
ST205 is ugly
Solid means heavy = slow.
In stock form the ae111 will beat the pants off the heavy st205.

You are joking right?
I owned a Trueno for 7 years, and it is horribly slow compare to ST205, although it is AE101, I have driven heaps of AE111s BZG and BZRs and they are not much different.
You obviously confuse ST205 with slow and heavy ST185...
Have you even driven a non molested ST205?
Stock vs Stock ST205 is way better than AE1XX, there is no question about it.
And btw it is not that heavy, it is just a little under 1.4t vs 1.2t for AE101 and 1.1t for AE111.
Also AE111 come with shitty interior, even speakers are worse than AE101s, and look like they been cheaply built compare to AE101.

Oh and I forgot to add that AE1XX is just understeer galore without LSD.

AE111 with blacktop is 1050kg, AE101 is 1090kg and the ST205 is 1390kg. The ST185 is 70kg heavier.

You said you've driven them, but it would be a different story with a 3sgte in it...

I have driven a turbo GTZ, and it was undrivable, wheel spin or boggin down, not much fun in the corners.

Actually best of FWD cars I have ever driven was 1998 Honda Civic Type-R.
As the list of fun FWD in my opinion goes this way:
1)1998 Honda Civic Type-R.
2)Honda Integra Type-R (new and old), 200X Civic Type-R
3)SS3 Celica (red-top)
4)2ZZ-GE Celica
5)GTZ
6)BZR and Accord/Torneo Euro-R
7)then all other VTEC junk.

This is AE100 rally car with Gen 3 3SGE and S3 Celica Gearbox. I built this car. Installation was a piece of cake.

A little heavy in the front but no understeer, no handling issues. A damn good package.

AE111 will be no more difficult at all.
