Toyota Allex Front Suspension knocking...help

Postby Timoz » Wed Jun 04, 2008 8:05 pm

Hi everyone, i've got a Toyota Allex ZZE123 which has Teins coil overs on it. now its making knocking noises from the front whenever the road surface has got bumps. Also the car would steer itself following the road surface. :?

I've taken out the shocks to Autolign to do some tests on them and they come back fine. So what else could that be? the lower ball joints? the control arm ball joints? Please help as i've heard that having bad ball joints is dangerous.

Sway bar bits? See if there is play in the mounting bushes. If not, unbolt one end of the sway bar and make sure the link is out of the way, go for a drive and see if the noise goes away. If so its link arms.

Ball joints you'd want the front up off the ground and lever on the bottom of the joint and the inside of the wheels. Any play in there can show up as noise, should be picked up for a warrant though.

Control arms bushes hardly ever wear enough to get any noise.
