Hey guys and gals.
Several q's I couldn't get answers for re: e and c series boxes.

An ae101 gtz has a e series gearbox, what is the code (as in c52 c56)?

Did all ae101 gtz's have lsd?

Does the lsd from an e series fit a c series?

What is the weight diff between e and c series boxes?

A good c series can hold 200ish kws (correct me if wrong), what can an e series box handle?

Is there a 'good' e series box? ie c56 preferred to c52? (better ratios for 5spd)

AE101 GT-Z = E58.

The S/C AW11 MR2 one is the best of the E series, as the gears are bigger (thicker).
They are f*cking heavy compared to a C52.
Longer ratios as well from memory.

Dunno if all AE101 GTZ ones are LSD. I know the AE92 ones came LSD and non-LSD.

The stock LSD can only hold on for so long though. A lot of people seem to go to TRD or another aftermarket one. Depends on what sort of power you're going to put out and what the car is for.

As for how much power they can take..... Barrys 330kw at the wheels enough hehehe :lol: (MR2 box)

I'm guessing Barry is Bazda?

Basically asking cos theres a guy on trademe selling a 4agze box, but he doesnt know what year it was out of.

Might just pass up on it as I have plenty of other stuff to buy.
Looking at the fotos of his gbox the diff housing looks bigger than on a c5x box anyway, so swapping the lsd over probably wouldnt work.

Anywho, I am a long way off 200kw yet. Plenty of other bridges to cross 1st.

Start with a C series box... lighter and will have less power loss.

E lsd will not fit into C box

E58 GTZ 4agze box is a viscous lsd, ok but probably not what you want.
Some good E series lsd's in SW20 turbo MR2s

C56 has slightly closer ratios than C52 - however with 200kw you probably won't care

C50 is the least ideal ratio gearbox

So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!
