Dented door sills?

Postby samlloyd » Thu Jul 31, 2008 9:12 pm

help!
Are these a reason to be scared i may not pass a wof/cert?

Reason i ask as you know under the door sils, the metal strip, Mine are bent.
Car has been off the road for a year, and its about to go get certed after i sort out a new clutch.

These are photos of my sils, are they buggered? Are the fixable? can i just try and bend them out. I suspect its just been jacked up on them, and bent them.

:?

Was it an ex stunt car? looks likes its been jumped. On one of my cars it had bent sills/jack points, not quite as bad as yours, I managed to bend them back in to shape, with adjustable spanner then a hammer with a block of steel behind it. I would definitely repair yours before you go for wof/cert.

Is that a repair I can do by bending them straight again?

You should be able to bend the jacking points back in to shape, it looks like the sill is bent up also, can you get access to the other side of the sill, from inside the car?

I had a car with damage like that, mine was lifted with a forklift (I guess).

It failed a warrant, so had to beat it all back into shape.
Just used a hammer and dolly, then covered it in underseal.
Came up mint.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
