Hi i was wondering if anybody knew what would be needed for a 2jzgte to fit into a mz21 facelift soarer engine mountwise, crossmember and wether a jza70 gearbox crossmember would be fine. I have a gz20 with a 1j in and picked up another rolling body for parts. but can make another soarer so im thinking 2jzgte would be fun. I am having a hard time finding info on this fittingwise and what id need to do, any help would be appreciated.

Cheers kurt

Apart from it being roughly twice the cost of a 1JZ-GTE conversion, and not really worth it bang for buck, its basically a bolt in proposition.

Do all the stuff you do for the 1JZ conversion, just remember the engine is taller.

And it pays to go single turbo straight off the bat if you're going manual as the rear turbos come pretty close to fouling on the clutch master.

You'll want to buy JZA70 engine mount alloys and rubbers which should bolt straight to the block and drop directly onto your facelift front subrame.

Any manual A70/Z20 gearbox crossmember will be fine, although it depends on what gearbox you are going to run as the V160/161 is significantly different. Although with an R154 then yes a JZA70 gearbox x-member will be fine.

You should start a project thread for your soarers.

I think for the 2jz you'll be better off using the alloy mounts from JZA70 rubbers from a 1UZ, they're shorter so you can be sure you won't have any clearance issues with the bonnet.

Lots of people doing this kind of thing now eh Dave? Makes me feel good about going crazy on mine and making it really different.

(and yes, I know I still haven't made a thread on my daily z20, ultra lazy!)

Yeah, I knew it was only a matter of time really... I mean it was back in 2004 when I planned to put a 1JZ into mine, its now 2008 and I still haven't finished that plan :\

And yes, you are teh 00ber slack ass :P Get onto it hopscotch! I expect a project thread on your daily before I sell my second soarer
