How to really piss off people at lights...

Postby RunningRich » Sat Sep 06, 2008 7:38 pm

My brakes have been squealing for months. I had some Japanese aftermarket pads in which were quite loud so I went back to Toyota ones. Well the noise kept getting louder and louder, especially at low speed.

The noise was ear piercing, at lights I'd get dirty looks and people would wind up their windows

After two attempts I have fixed it. Removed all the pads front and rear, cleaned the calipers and cleaned the pads (again). Lubed and installed. Then noticed that I had the clip that pushes the pads forward on backwards.

DAMN!!!

The clip held the pads backwards so that when braking they would vibrate back and scream. Amazing such a simple error could make so much noise.

Wasted a whole afternoon. At least my wheels are sparkling clean now.

Haha, sounds similar to me in the RC today. Nobody would come near me at the lights, cos at idle the turbo seals would POUR smoke out the exhaust  . I got some really strange looks!
