silvertop vs Blacktop.....valve springs

Almost thought it was one of those typical threads about someone asking whats different about the two engines.

Anyway here is another valve spring question. I got a quote for valve springs from the head reconditioner. When he got back to me he said its lucky i want springs for the blacktop and not a silvertop because the silvertop ones were more expensive. Something about how the blacktop ones will fit right in Does this mean they are different? But then the toda ones im wanting the listing is for ae101/ae111 showing that they are the same spring. So what the story here? And lastly when purchasing the valve spings is there any modifying required to get them fitted or do they just drop inplace of the factory ones?
