gen3 1ggte only running 9pound ?

Postby Jonno2002 » Tue Sep 30, 2008 9:14 am

got my motor all up and running and installed boost guage (lame autoguage cheapy) only to find it boosts 9 pound, i was under the impression that these motors run 11 pound, its got grey ecu plugs and green injectors so all i can think of is that some previous owner has replaced the turbos with an earlier model ? sound right ?

Have you tried throwing the boost gauge in the bin, i had one of those in my 4x4 bighorn, it was reading 20 psi.... just cheap junk in my opinion.... 2nd hand autometer gauge off trademe now reads correctly...

just because the ecu etc is a gen 3 doesnt mean the turbo/wastegates are, which is what actually controls the boost.....

i see this on alot of vehicles. Wastegate gets its feed straight off the compressor housing where the air is hot, the air then gets cooled down and you have a tad less pressure because of that in the manifold which is i'm picking where you are getting your boost guage reading from.

Some of it is also boost guage inaccuracy

thx we figured that out today, probably because the wastegates get their feed strait from the compressor housings and cause of the front mount.

Throw the autogauge away. The autogauge in the Zed reads 2psi on full boost lol
