turbo and box Qs

Postby d1 mule » Tue Nov 11, 2008 8:33 pm

i no iv asked alot of similar questons recently but ya get that on the big ones

im 90% sure iv sold my truck so will have a few pingas to throw at the ae70, iv already got the diff sorted (E series) so am thinkng gearbox and turbo!!!!

now what do you all think a suitable turbo is for approx 150RWKW?? i dont really wanna go chinese etc, more wanting a readily avaliable cheap "standard" turbo off another car. any ideas??

and for that sort of power W55 or T50?? bearing in mind 99% of its driving will be thrashing/drifting/speed events

TD04 or T25 would be the cheapest option, they ought to have enough airflow to give 150rwkw pretty easily.
I'd go W55 just for peace of mind that you wont smash it in any hurry, whereas the T50 will blow with lots of abuse.

A T28 turbo off a silvia? Or An Evo turbo would be what I would be going for, both around $500 s/h in good condition.

And a W series box, or a handful of T50's.

Td05 from an evo, old or new version,

or the ht18-T3 combo is always a good option

and definatly the W55 gearbox, T50s are getting expensive and harder to find, peace of mind knowing you can give a W55 abuse and still be able to drive home.

I'd go with a TD04 off a GSR, would be nice and responsive as well as cheap and will do 150wkw fine
