VVTI 1jzgte no spark

Went to a Puke test day yesterday and did one run (about 8 laps). Car wasn't running the best, kept hesitating under full throttle but its was running ok at small throttle openings. I thought it might be an injector issue.
After sitting for 30 mins the car wouldn't start. Discovered it wasn't getting any spark. Some tests with a multi meter suggest there is power going to the igniter but nothing coming out.
Anyone had any issues like this with toyota igniters or with a 1jz? Is there any way to test the igniter? Could it be something else like coils?
