Good place to get an exhaust system done

Postby -MATT- » Mon Nov 17, 2008 11:17 pm

Looking at getting a 2 1/4" performance cat back exhaust system fitted to my Carina and just want to get a good idea of where people would recommend to get this done? And what is a general round figure I'd be looking to pay. Carina has the Black-top 20v 4age.

Cheers,

Matt

I got one done quite awhile ago so prices have probably change and im betting the recession hasnt helped either. Anyway there were three places i got quotes from Pitstop, takapuna exhausts/mufflers and als mufflers. Pitstop was the most expensive out of the three then takapuna mufflers then als mufflers were the cheapest. I got my dumppipe done by als mufflers i highly reccomend them they did great work on my car not so much takapuna mufflers and pitstop were quite good too. I paid 450 a few years ago for a 2 1/4" from takapuna mufflers but i dont reccomend them at all.

Als mufflers. Got told about them from a dude on base. Been going there since.

I'll be going there when doing exhaust for my AE92 FXGT (Blacktop) and for my AE101 Turbo.

Thanks guys for your recommendations!

got the car back and stoked with the result! sounds really nice! 2 1/4" with 2 coby resonators (with just 1 it was still a bit too raspy) super turbo muffler and tip. Car really seems to haul more up top with it once you reach 5500rpm and the VVT kicks in :) All up very impressed with Deans work so would recommend to all!

Nice work.
I've bought some exhaust gear which I"ll be bringing back to NZ with me.
Might get a quote from the same dude, as well as Als Mufflers, for comparison.

Oh and the VVT isn't rev based, it's based on load and revs, so if you floor it the VVT will be on well before 5500rpm.
