20v experiences??

Postby d1 mule » Thu Jan 15, 2009 10:59 pm

heya so me being capitan indecisive and all have had the thought of a mildly worked blacktop 20v in the 70 instead of going the turbo route.

the plan would be .5mm TRD head gasket, extractors, trumpets, tuned on AVGAS

wold it be worth it???

any ideas what sort of power it would muster??

cheers

Probably not much more than factory.

Power delivery would be different though (probably worse) if you changed the trumpets / extractors. Add some cams to the mix and they can get up to 110kw+ ish atw. Ball park figure to give you an idea anyway.

Yep i'm biased but just running it factory would still go alright 8)

NB: remember that MSNZ is banning leaded fuel, thus Avgas, in the not distant future. So don't build a motor that is going to require fuel that is getting the ban stick.

Actually, the drifters have some of the toughest roll cage requirements out there. Considering that they are running at Clubsport level anyway.

Yah, I think 2010 for avgas out, I don't have the info in front of me unfortunately.
