Supercharging 1G-EU

Postby AE86less » Sat Feb 07, 2009 2:29 pm

I've got a mate with a 1G-EU in a Hilux Surf.

After talking with him I thought it'd be cool to swap in a 1GGZE for minimal effort etc. However he is a dad and doesn't earn alot, and I thought that the factory supercharger gear off a 1GGZE might fit and be cheaper. Can anyone give any insight?

Cheers.

if its anything like the 4agze stuff you'll want the best part of an entire engine to see much real / reliable benefit out of the process.

loom, ecu, injectors, pistons, etc etc

:?

Damn. I thought it might be possible to do something rangi-4agTe style. Like a stock bluetop with turbo.
All he's really looking for is a little bit of extra torque so he doesn't have to go to second up the harbour bridge

1geu's are plain poos.
If you wanted ease of install with no skill, find a 1ggeu.

None of the 1ggze stuff will fit on a 1geu.

2nd that.
would it not be easier finding a hilux wreck and grab the 3rz-fe or 3vz-fe running gear, whatever torque monsters they have in there and stuff in his own hilux?

complete 1ggze with ecu and loom. much simpler conversion. cost more in parts to start with but at least it'll be reliable and strong.

other option could be to customize an sc14 onto a 1gge then see if you can rangi a 1ggze loom/ecu to run the thing. at least the twincam head will be pretty close to the 1ggze ecu. saves alot of hassle getting it to run nicely. expect it to be off the road for a while tho heh

This is a little off topic, but how similar is a 1G-GZE in appearance to a 1G-GTE once you've put a turbo and manifold on it, and changed the intake to something custom?
