Supercharging the blacktop 20v

Postby -MATT- » Fri Feb 13, 2009 6:11 pm

Interested in getting a little more low down torque from my Carina GT with it's BlackTop 20v. Should I stick with a Toyota supercharger off say a levin or Trueno? Or go with an aftermarket unit?
What would be involved in having this done and any recommendations on workshops that are good for this?

Cheers,

Matt

Might as well get a decent responsive turbo matched up to it. Probably the same effort and cost.

Easiest way (cheapest) to get more down low on a Blacktop, is run it on 98 or Gull Force 10 gas, tweak the timing possibly and change the trumpets for some I-Mec ones or similar. If trumpets are used in conjuntion with the stock surge box, it's been proven to give more down low as well as a good gain up high too. Best of boths worlds.

Turbo or supercharger will cost lots and the stock motor has problems with boost. Eg, conrods and 11:1 compression.

Or, sell it and buy a car with a 4AGZE in it.
