Rav4 Stalling

Postby TORUKU » Mon Mar 02, 2009 11:27 pm

Had this problem before, car stalls at lights so went to replace the idle control valve and cleaned the throttle body at the same time which seem to have fixed it for a few months. Now it's back!!

The car won't start and idle, starter turns over and engine just doesn't want to idle. Try again while pressing on gas pedal would start it.
Drove it for a couple of minutes, it dies on me while I'm driving, so had to pull over to the side of the road, and same thing as before, won't start normally so had to press down on the gas pedal.

Would it be the ICV again?? Or is there something else that it could be?
It's a 98 Rav4 auto with a 3s-fe.

Thanks

Doesn't seem like fuel, runs perfectly fine when it doesn't stall. I think they are MAP sensored.

probably find the reason it wont start is that it is not getting any air.

Replace the iscv,
then reset the TPS
Then set ign timing with check connector bridged,
then set idle speed also with check connector bridged.

must be done it that order.
