ECU question

Postby Jazza » Mon Mar 16, 2009 6:11 pm

Now, i know this is a toyota forum :P But i was having a play today in the track car finishing up gauges etc and noticed my ECU chilling under my dash.
The car is modified somewhat (As the engine was when i bought it too (is a 1.6 sohc vtec).

Question is: Is it likely that the guys who rebuilt the engine/s changed the ECU? It has no markings what so ever, but the fact its been placed somewhere easily accessable made me wonder.

Any ways i can tell what ECU it would be?

Any plugs/pins that would give it away as to whether it is stock or not?

Pics to come soon.

Could be same ecu, different map.

Apparently you can chip a factory honda ecu with your own custom map, that would require opening it up and some soldiering etc too. could be why it has been played with.
