t3 VS t28/t25 turbo

Postby tim_blair » Sat May 16, 2009 1:01 am

when putting a turbo on a blacktop
and given the choice of any t3 flanged turbo or t25/t28 flanged turbo what would be a better choice

where lag, size and placement are the issues not hp

id say t28
my cousin has one off an S15 and it has awesome spool. at 100kph in 5th you can put your foot down and have boost straight away.

he had a quite big T3T4 on it and it was laggy as, but made good top end power.

T2# series will definitely spool faster. They still give good power too.
dyno graph for my t25g is in the projects section if you want to look.

should be plenty floating around for the t3's too, theres quite a few graphs from various setups on garagedori.

I would run a T3 based turbo with a blacktop 20v.
These heads flow well and spool up small T3s very fast.

if you cant have boost straight away in 5th gear, the turbo is MAJORILY too big for the engine it is bolted to............

100k is usually about 3000rpm in a toyota, so i wouldn't 100% agree with that.

Sure you may like that to happen on a street car,
but with aftermarket turbo's and the search for power....

my old hybrid T28 wouldn't have had a show of making boost at 3000 rpm, and it was maxed out at 300hp, and it wasn't just a s/h POS,
it was a specifically built one.
