coolant pipes/hose clips

Postby deaf_rattle » Wed May 20, 2009 8:12 pm

OK, working on a rb20det tonight to repair a leak in the coolant system.

Rear hose underneath the intake manifold was the problem, in the process of removing the hose, the pipe it was on came off with it (pretty rusted)

There is about 2" of pipe left.

obviously the bit of pipe with the lip on it, is no longer there.

What are my options?

removing the pipe and getting it welded up is not an option as it will require removal of the intake manifold, which i dont want to do. (Would replace pipe with second hand if i went down that path)

will putting on excess hose and 2 hose clips be sufficent? or just likely to come off the pipe?

cheers

if the remainder of the pipe is in decent condition, it should be okay. i routinely use shellac on those kinds of connections which seems to help as well.
