Oil Filter code Number Difference's

Postby bs » Sat May 30, 2009 1:45 pm

Bought a new oil filter from local toyota dealership a week ago. They have supplyed myself with the wrong filter, part number 90915-10003.
On the caldina had a 90915-10004 (3sgte). Box of the first filter say's for S series engine's exc 3sgte.

The only difference I can see between the two are the height of the filter it's self. It screw's up fine.
So my question is: Is there a difference inside the two of them? Like a bypass valve is it get's cloged

Cheers

No internal differences that I know of except a reduced capacity. This means that the filter will clog up in less time then the bypass will activate. Provided the engine is in good condition and not producing a lot of blow-by this shouldn't happen in the normal life of a filter.

Thank's fivebob! Just thought I should be better safe than sorry.
Engine has done 75000km's and change it every 5000, so it is in realtive good condition.
