How do I get my bucket seats to sit properly?

Postby stephandandy » Mon Jul 13, 2009 5:12 pm

Hey guys, have a 1992 Nissan Pulsar GTiR which was stolen a few months back and interior set alight. My dilemma is i decided to replace the old factory seats with MONZA bucket seats but cant seem to get these to sit right. For one they sit way to high my head almost scrapes the roof and two one sits on a lean. I have put factory rails on these hoping to solve the problem but to no avail. Does anyone know how i can get them to sit lower, the tunnel which juts to the drivers side doesnt help either. Or is there someone in Christchurch who could help me im willing to pay for yours/their services. Also while im here i may aswell ask if anyone know where i can get a hole on the side of my engine bay fixed, after pulling the engine apart to see if the idiots who stole my car did any mechanical damage i found a gaping hole above the wheel arch. It really needs to be welded but i have no idea where to take it. I can post pics of it if that helps.

Any help would be great!

what rails are you using with the seats?

easiest way will be to buy some rails that are designed to suit your car / seats

Im using the original rails from the factory seats, they were the only part of the seat not destroyed by fire. So have bought a spare seat of rails from another GTiR to make sure theyre the same. Still cant work the damn thing out though.

Monza seats are horrible things, they sit quite high as they have a pretty thick base. As for sitting on a lean, you may need to make a angled shim, I assume its tilting off the trans tunnel?

I'm guessing you've gone ahead and ignored the fact that heat warps metal?

If its factory rails, and the mounts from rail to seat are identically placed as the factory seats themselves, I'd be putting it down to shonky seats...
