When I pulled mine apart for the first time I used a ae92 repair manual which had a overhaul section for the c52 box and it was almost identical apart from a few locational items.

If it's anything like the MR2 box that I had, then you'll need to take the end section cover off, and use a 5th gear puller tool, then take out the casing, PITA tbh.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Its the same as a MR2 box, only thing different is the shifter.

Ideally you need 2 pullers. A gear puller and jaw pullers.
12mm socket
14mm socket
5mm allen key
24mm socket
big cresent
30mm socket and rattle gun
pliers
hammer
c-clip removers

5th gear can be quite difficult to install back on, for a first timer it would drive you crazy.

Thanks guys, barry. Very good.

May invest in some pullers tomorrow then, everything else I have. Ill get 5th gear off and see how it goes after that.

Big hammer, or even bigger hammer usually works

Barry what are the pullers you use? i have tried 2 so far and they dont fit.. first was a 6" 3 arm that was dreaming and the second is a (called usa type) 3" 2 arm on a horizontal bar but the heels on the feet are too fat to allow it to fit in the grove on the gear.. I could grind the heels down but that would compromise the strength of the ankles, if you get what I mean.
im getting jonesway tools btw, bnt is the only place round here that has a range of pullers to order in.

cheers!

Those ones there are from sulco, the ones I use are a cheaper brand, no idea where they are from though..

top left is a bearing separator

On c series I use a harmonic balancer puller to remove 5th syncro hub
and a cheap $20? 3jaw puller from supercheap with the heal ground down haven't had any strength issues just make sure your pulling off square
